Thinking about getting a new puppy
Posted On 07/07/2008 10:29:41 by Daedre
Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a new puppy, not sure on what sex.  I already have a female and would like another female.  I have heard it's best to have one of each.
Would love to hear any feed back.

Cheers Daedre

Seeing as Bell has been seen to, you dont have to worry about a boy getting to her. I have one of each, and they get along famously, but on the odd occassion I have to leave them alone I do crate Venus and leave Toby in the same room, as I would hate it if they should fight (although up to now there as been no hint of that happening) But we couldnt get in through the internal kitchen door because toys we had left in the crate had been pulled through the bars somehow and had moved the crate in the process! We are thinking of getting a third, but that will definately be a girl. Let us know what you decide.

I rang Bell's breeders a month ago to see if Zoe (Bell's mum) was going to have another litter.
And yes she is!  Zoe is going into season this month, Anne is going to let me know when she has been mated.  I will be able to have the pick of the litter, She wont be ready till Christmas which suits me fine.  I have Christmas school holidays off which is about 8 weeks, that will be perfect to settle her in. I got Bell the same time last year.  This time I will fly over and pick her out,  they live in Melbourne which is about a hours flight from Hobart.  We wanted the same breeder because they are fantastic and really know what the are doing.

We are all so excited!  Sometimes I think I just want one now, but I think it's important to be able to spent that time with them at the start.
Christmas is so far away but it gives me time to save I guess.
Takes care Lynne, talk soon

hi,well i have a mixture of sexes but i wonder if you plan on breeding because obviously when a female is in season you would'nt be able to keep a male & female apart, personally i would put either a male and have your female or male done or another female,my 2 female staffies get on but they are protected by my male staffie they are all very close and fingers crossed ive not had more than a tiny snap at each other.the only 2 thats not possible is 2 males so good luck,i hope ive been some help.lisa.x
Hi Lisa,  thanks for that.  My 9 month old staffy Bell has already been spade and I would be planning on getting the next one fixed too.  How do you think that would be?
