Sleepless nights!!!!
Posted On 27/09/2008 22:28:43 by cazzawilson

Hi I was just wondering if anyone out there could help me, it doesn't matter how late I let my 3 out on a night but Tia nine time out of ten decides to cry and wake me up so she can go out in the middle of the night to do her business even tho she went when I let her out before I went to bed, She is nearly 3 and is quite nervous and doesn't like loud noises (especially fireworks) I think this has been going on probbably for the last year, it feels like I have a newborn baby can anyone help so I can get my peaceful night sleep back.
Thanks
Carol xxx

HI I WOULD TAKE HER FOOD AND WATER FROM HER A BIT EARLIER. TRY AND LET HER OUT A BIT LONGER BEFORE YOUR BED TIME. AND LEAVE THE TELLY OR RADIO ON LOW WHEN YOUR IN BED. IF SHE DOES BARK IN THE NIGHT GO DOWN AND KEEP SAYING BED LEAVE LINO NEAR THE BACK DOOR THEN IF SHE DOES HAVE A ACCIDET IT WONT MIND AS MUCH.MY DOG IS 4YRS AND WAS DOING THAT FOR QUITE A WHILE . SHE,S LIKE A NEW BORN BABY LOL. HOPE YOU GET IT ALL SORTEDX

Hi Carol
providing there is know medical reason for it could be a routine that she has created for her self and becomes a habit. trytaking the water away an hour before bed and feeding earlyer.then if you know forsure that she has done her bizzys before bed then instead of taking her outside when she wakes you up keep putting her back to bed telling her to stay. Hve had to use it on bill who got into the habit of getting up at 3am after a bout of the runs.im having to do it with maya at the moment who is a shocker with house training as she had a yeast infection after being on heat and just peed all the time.
You may find some more stuff on past forums that may help have a look.

Hi Carol, I had a dog previously who was so scared of bangs - to begin with it was just fireworks, but over the years it was doors banging, cars making a noise going over the speed bumps, people using hammers in a neighbours garden. He would shake and wee, pant and dribble.  I got a plug in thing that emitted pheramones which helped to calm the dog for a time, and tried tablets from the vets to help calm him down but eventually the vets said that he had a mental condition, and as he was getting into this state most of the time his quality of life was not very good, I was worried he was going to have a heart attack. Sadly we had to have him pts.
You could try the plug in pheramones to see if that helps to calm her.
Have you tried leaving a radio on low in case she is nervous of being on her own overnight.
Or even putting her bed in your room to see if knowing you are near makes any difference.
Hope you manage to get some sleep soon hun.

Hi Carol, i had this problem with Lilia. She was brilliant - she used to hop into her cage night time as good as gold then as time went on she started barking during the night. This was two or three times every night as i get up early in the mornintg(5.30) i couldnt cope with it and as she was my only dog i gave it and let her sleep on the bed and now shes great 99% of the time infact i have to drag HER out of bed now. I think in her case it was cos shes lonely i dont know what to suggest to you either than if you know shes had a pee and a poo ignore her and hope she will grow out of it. Or try two or three large glasses of wine night time.  seriously i hope you get some good advice as this is what this site is all about
