Aloe Vera Oil
Posted On 03/02/2009 23:13:36 by ducatirose
Hiya, I just wanted to tell you about Aloe Vera Oil (a natural anti-inflammatory), because it seems from what I've been reading on the site that a lot of staffies are sensitive little souls and prone to skin complaints, muscle pains and arthritis like us all!
I wanted to let you know about this cos I know so many dogs (including my own) who have benefited from it as a supplement in their diet for their skin (the vets gave up but this worked!), for arthritis and aches and pains, spondylisis, eczema, itchyness, alopecia etc... you can get it in a gel/liquid form  & its not that expensive compared to the pills you get from vets.... if you combine it with lavender oil/gel ( which is a natural antiseptic/ anti-inflammatory too) it works wonders with these conditions.  It works for humans too!
I just thought I'd let you guys know cos it took me a long time to find it out myself. xx big hugs Rosie

Thank you Rosie, I have heard wonderful things about aloe vera in general.  I will be getting some too cos my boy harley keeps licking his little paws and he is beginning to worry me!
Do you just rub it on their paws?

Hiya Elena, yes the gel can be rubbed in I used it twice a day & I used the oil as a supplement in my woofs breakfast.. it took a wee while to see a difference but I truly believe in it as it worked wonders for my old collie who used to chew her paws till they bled and she got these eczema patches on her back, also being 16 she had arthritis in her back legs...the vet pretty much gave up on her, he couldnt believe the difference the Aloe Vera made (he now swears by it).  Because its natural you dont get the horrid side effects, the tablets the vet gave Tiff gave her terrible squits, cost a fortune & didnt work anyway which was why I tried to find an alternative!.  I gave her cod liver oil for the arthritis but found out that the Aloe Vera is good for arthritis too.

Also my friends dog Bertie caught fox mange, poor wee man the itchyness drove him mad,  they treated the mange but he still itched, when they started the Aloe Vera he was so much better.  I could go on & on! Its wonderful stuff! lol! xx Rosie

Thanks for this Rosie, I have some on order after someone recommended it
to try and get my Venus to stop licking her feet to the extent that they
bleed! Didn't know about mixing it with the lavender oil though, will have to pick some of that up.
I've also been reading up on colloidal silver which sounds very good,
dont know if anyone has opinions on that too...
