new 7 week pup dominating!!

hi everyone, my boyfriend has just bought a staffy pup, hes 8 weeks old this weekend. we noticed that he can be quite aggressive already!!he growls and barks and tries to bite when you disipline him. He started weeing on the rug just yesterday and i picked him up to take him outside and he was growling and snapping and barking at me!! ive grown up with dogs all my life and my mum has bred them in the past and never have i known a pup to be like this at such a young age. plz help.

it is strange for a pup to be this aggresive maybe he was badly handled by the breeder?or maybe the breeder can offer some advice my pup is 14 wks old but he is one of my pups we kept from my girls litter he can get a bit grumpy if hes had too much play not sure what to suggest really iam sure another member will be along soon to help

To be honest its prabably normal behaviour-they can be little buggers at this age.Most young pups dont like being picked up and will protest in the only way they know how. He is trying it on. Be firm,consistent-if you need to pick him up-do it gently and just ignore his protests.
If he starts barking and growling-a sharp NO and you can try putting him in the kitchen for a time out. Some people dont agree with this as dogs are not thinking the same as us but many members find it works.
Please dont smack him or anything else-be firm-all of you ,dont allow unwanted behaviour and he will soon learn the rules-hes a baby being cheeky.
