Right i need your guys opoinion on this...
Lilly will be 1 in Feb then after about another year and a half we was talking about if we should breed or not. She is red and white and is very close to the breed standered, the only problem is she hasn't got papers, now in the future i want to be a breeder/shower. Lilly is my first dog and i knew nothing of the KC or what it meant, so when i was looking for a dog i didnt think it matter if they had papers or not. Now i was looking for stud dogs and wondered if any of them would breed with Lilly as she has no papers. Now i only want to breed once for the experience of when i finally have my show dogs in the far future i have the know how on how things work and how things are done right. But i can't help but wonder what your guys opinoin is on this, is it worth breeding her or not? It wouldn't be for another year or so as she's only a year in feb. I paid £300 for her and she is a stunning bitch and like i said very close to the breed standerd. So what do you guys think, breed or not? It wouldnt be for the money it would be for the experience. And maybe we may be cheeky and keep a pup lol. |

hard to answer this one, with you sounding like a good owner a few years ago my opinion would have been yes if you wanted a puppy for yourself why shouldnt you but tbh with all the sbt adults and pups alike in rescue homes, right now if i were on the spot id say no...this is only my opinion

I would also say no. There are so many staffies in rescue homes and so many being pts. but it's only my opinion. I'm sure experienced breeders on here would be able to tell you what is involved and what to expect and help you make a more informed decision |

This is your choice it not my place to say yes or no. my feelings are without papers leave her how she is.get her spayed when she has matured.
You sound like you love her to bits,so breeding her & possible loosing her to whelping difficulties was it worth it in the end. One of my pups went to a lady who wanted to breed him to her bitch when she was older & him matured, just got an email saying she is getting her bitch spayed, going to stud my pup out when older, reason : my Harley mated a bitch not long ago & she died a week after giving birth, she had to have a c section & a week later the stitches burst this making her have another op & she didnt recover from that, the pups had to be handreared a very tiring job. also my Stella had to have a c section as her pup was stuck, during the op she wouldnt stop bleeding so we chose to get her spayed there & then.it could of gone more wronge & we could of lost Stella aswell. So her reasons are spelt out,she loves her girl too much too loose her.she has never bred before & wont take the risk dont just read the good side of breeding consider the bad side aswell Your choice

To be honest, as she is unpapered, it doesn't really matter if she is close to the breed standard as none of her pups will be able to be registered, so can't be shown. The breed standard is a description of the ideal with shows in mind. You say you are interested in showing later on, as your bitch has no papers, if you breed her and keep a pup, you can't show it. I would say the sensible option would be for you to spey your bitch and enjoy her as a beautiful pet, and look into purchasing a well bred, health tested, KC reg pup with show potential. |
