Hello

I have just started Obediance training with Blue. I just wondered what are the best treats to use and what does every one else use for their training.

Thanks

I use carob drops with Leo (Dog treat variety, not human) but i only alow him 10 of these, if i cant to kept training after 10 drops i switch to kibble (Leo's so silly, doesnt seem to care as long as its food coming from my hand)

For new and harder tricks, i generally start with boiled chicken stripped into little peices, or cheese cause he cant resist and seems to pick up what ever i am teaching him quicker.

We were advised to use hot dog sausage, chicken and cheese chopped up into really small pieces when we took Lola to puppy training.  Nothing too big as if it takes them a while to eat they will forget why they were rewarded in the first place  x x

a bit off topic....

I bought this doggie chocolate for dogs training as a reward, Max and Poppy were alright with it but Sasha....Oh she loved it and worked well but her stomach didn't like that doggie chocolate very much, upset her bowl then next 3 days I was cleaning her runny ones.......

oh dear what a treat that was for me.....

Dont know who good or bad it is for them Lee but I have been using garlic sausage from the supermarket and soot walks off the lead over the park no more than 20ft away from my side.
The smell from the garlic sausage drives her nuts and when called she returns 95% of the time as well as making a right fuss of her, even when other dogs and people are over there.
Lately she has been walking right by my side and she loves the stuff
Might keep other dogs away from planting a smacker on blue too Lee

I use chicken, liver, cheese and peanut butter treats.

I also avoid dog choc as it gives mine the runs!

Sonny has £5, £10 and £20 treats. He has £5 ones are anything that come in a bag or made for dogs. £10 is a piece of sausage or meat. £20 is the thing that he loves, oranges ?????? I know its so wierd, his mouth waters when i peel one. Also any raw meat or bone is high value to him. If he does something I know he struggles with ( like recall first time) he gets a big £20 one.
Tia likes everything that isn't dog food and a crust of toast is as exciting as steak.

Hi... I use a mix of James Wellbeloved treats (the lamb ones) and freeze dried liver treats with Skye... she loves both!

I could also use cheese, banana, chicken... as she loves these too, but I find a freezer bag with those in is easy to keep in my bag beside the poo bags! They don't go off, and don't stink.
