Just thought you guys might be interested.  WA paper, the sunday times, had a positive article about staffys today.  It said that more staffys were being registered by councils than any other breed.  It went on to say what great family dogs they are!!  About time someone told the truth about what a great dog breed they are.

I dont know if its online so I will type it out.  Here goes:
No bull, staffies are the top dogs. By Linda Cann.
The staffordshire bull terrier is the city's favourite dog breed.
Dog registrations at four major local councils reveal the staffy is the most popular, followed by the maltese terrier, Jack Russell terrier and kelpie.
As well as being much loved, the staffy can also have quirky characteristics. One owner said his pet was addicted to the TV show The Bold and The Beautiful.
Stafforshire bull terrier club of WA president Kevin Rice says his four-year-old show dog Nitro comes running when he hears the soap opera's familiar opening music.
"He insists on sitting on my wife Trisha's lap and then watches The Bold and the Beautiful with her until its finished and then he goes back outside," Mr Rice said.
Animal behaviourist Garth Jennens said he had seen dogs that appear to recognise images and sounds on TV.
"I've treated a few dogs that attack the TV when animals come on screen, or dogs that have a keen interest in animal shows which suggests they recognise animals and sounds on TV" Dr Jennens said.
Registration figures from Wanneroo, Joondalup, Vincent and Subiaco councils show 3808 staffy registrations, 3679 for maltese terriers, 2932 for Jack Russells and 2671 for kelpies.
Mr Rice, 69, keeps 14 staffies at his Sourthern River property and attributes their popularity to their friendly nature.
"They're a family dog" he said. "Staffies love kids and we also place older staffies with elderly people. They are good for every type of person".
Then there is a big photo of Nitro smiling at the camera while sitting on Trisha Rice's lap.  Page 12 for any one you gets the Sunday Times.
