Little Roxy......... Not a fan of other dogs!

Hi everyone, I would really love to hear any advice from any Staffi owners who struggle with their Staff's not being super fond of any other dogs.

Our little Roxy just adores our older Staffi Trinity, but ever since she was just tiny, she has never really taken a liking to any other dogs.

We have introduced her very slowly and carefull to other dogs - and sometimes we have success - but most of the time, and especially when a strange dog sniffs her behind, she gets really growly!

I don't think it would be so bad if she just growled at them, but she actually chases, growls and bites (I hesitate to say attack, but she really lays into them!!)  This can be any breed that she runs into.  As I am aware that Staffi Bitches won't often get along.

Does anyone else have this problem, and any solutions?  We thought we might take her to a Dog Behavioural Trainer - but then some Staffi owners tell me that this is just Staffis and its normal??

Maybe we have just been spoiled by Trinity, who has the most beautiful loving nature and just adores all dogs, all people, all children...... the list goes on!  She is a doll, wee Roxy is just a different dog.

I would really love to hear any advice or similar experiences that anyone has.

From a worried Mum - Jo

I would object to strange men sniffing my bum as well

Put yourself between the other dog and Roxy, it is your job to protect her not her to protect herself.   Teach her to get behind you on command, it makes it much easier.

Good luck.
