Hi, Deefa is 5months now and lately when we take her for a walk she will run off. She has always been good at walking off the lead and coming back when we call her but just lately if she see's another dog she is gone and doesn't come back on 1st call.. Can anyone  help me on this please... Thanks

Deefa is being a typical pup-shes got to that age of adolescence where she is more confident and will be testing what she can get away with-you are lucky if she comes back at all.
All you can do is either put her on an extending lead and reel her back in with treats until she is reliable again(or a favorite toy) or practise recall again with perhaps a family member or friend-where you have her going back and forth between you -and are able to get her back with any distractions.
All my dogs have gone through this stage-Amber is actually the best because she will always come back-the two JRT-took until about 21/2 years of age before they came back .

Yup, Leo was the same. He was really good, then around 5 months turned into a terror and wouldnt come back no matter what. We got a long line lead and he had to return when called on his long line, otherwise the line was realed in and he was on a short lead walk which he hated (Knowing he had the length of line but wasnt being allowed to use it) This helped to teach him what was acceptable and what was not. Once he returned everytime on the long line (After a month or 2! they can be very stubborn at that age) we started letting him back off the lead again

He's much better now at 9months but for a couple of months there i lost all confidence of ever being able to let him off at all, but trust me it can and does get better!

Yes Toby went through this as well, persistent recall training, and throwing a ball for him to bring back worked wonders. There is light at the ens of the tunnel
