Hi there staffy owners! I haven't been on here in a few weeks and the site looks better. Anyway the reason I am posting this thread is I may be having a few probs with Jake or maybe it's just a phase some puppies go through as I can't remember what Charlie was like as a puppy.
Anyway I know I have posted about Jake's ears as they appear to be permanently sticking up, but lately I have noticed that his tail sort of curls up at the bottom (like the last inches or so). Has anyone else had this problem or tell me anything on the subject? Thanks in advance Mark. |

Hi Mark-Ambers tail is exactly the same-it reminds me of an old-fashioned pump handle. I just think its the way some staffs carry their tail. Some have them straight down and some hold them like Ambers and your dogs. Unless hes injured his tail I wouldnt worry. xx

No, he hasn't injured it what o ever. I guess I'm just used to seeing Charlie's tail go straight down. I thought there might of been something wrong with him or the tail. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

the tail should have a bit of a bend in it when at rest. too much of a curl is not strictly kosher. then again, neither is staight down. neither way is not a real problem in the overall scheme of things tho. |

I read up on the breed before I got Lola and read that this is exactly what the tail should look like - a pump handle. A real Staffie characteristic apparently :)

That's odd as I always thought that it should be straight down? |

I am no expert Mark so you may be right - I was just quoting what I read in the books - pump handle as in straight down with a small curve after the backside.
Just for reference I read: Pet Owner's Guide to the Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Pet Owner's Guide) by Clare Lee and A New Owner's Guide to Staffordshire Bull Terriers (A New Owner's Guide to) by Dayna Lemke |

Does it matter as long as Jake's healthy and happy?

Jake is defo healthy and really happy! I just haven't seen this on another staff bull terrier before and I thought that's what a forume was all about asking questions and gathering information and not getting criticised for asking a question!!
