Rolling in and eating dead things

I need some help please!!! Lilia has an obsession with either rolling in or eating dead animals/poo. We live in the countryside and the majority of her walks are off lead. Her recall around people and live animals is very good but as soon as she smells out a dead animal shes gone. Then she will either roll in it or try to eat it (sometimes both!). No amount of calling or producing toys will stop her. I usually end up lunging at her harness and dragging her away (not ideal i know). I am getting to the stage where i dont want to let her off the lead but this seems a bit unfair as she is good the majority of the time. Any suggestions PLEASE! Thanks Di

snap, mine does exactly the same duck pooh, horse pooh, fox pooh, you name it she either rolls in it or eats it,dead frogs is another one but she just tends to roll ih them ,not eat them, think its a bitch thing, something to do with when they were wild and protecting thier young, the bitches used to eat the pooh of the pups so that predaters dont pick up on the scent, thats what i,ve been told anyway.dont think it,ll do any harm its just disgusting to watch, she may grow out of it,tia is 15 months now and she,s not as bad as she used to be.

Lola is the same Di.  She is obsessed with eating cat and goose poo, she rolls in horse/fox/cow etc poo.  The other day she was eating something that I am sure was dog poo - the way she was proper chewing down on it actually made me retch.  In fact, I was retching all the way to the end of the lane!!!
She has rolled on a dead frog before but that's the only dead thing she has ever got near (we once saw a dead seal on the beach but I got her on the lead before she spotted it - thank god!!!)

I can't offer any advice I'm afraid but am interested to see any.  Good Luck  x x

Its so strange about bitches doing this, does anyone have any dogs that eat disgusting things. I never remember my male staff doing this, but my girl is terrible with poo.

Cheers all! I do try really hard to spot things before Madam but she can sniff things out before I can see them. I guess I will just have to keep on with the recall but no amount of treats (including raw mince) is going to outweigh a smelly carcass or poo! At least i know im not the only one with this problem. It would be nice to get home one night this week not smelling of decaying animals though lol. Dogs - you have gotta love em

Hi!  Jay is obsessed with eating and rolling on poo and dead animals.  Only tonight was he rolling on a bird wing.  The same one he was trying to eat the other day.  Yuck! x
