Hi All,

Just wondering if you have any ideas.....Diesel is now 8 months (and still the best puppy ever) however we go through so many toys as he chews and chews and till they are in pieces sometimes the chewed bits come out the other end which is delightful hahahaha . For example I bought him a toy the other day and it was a hard rubber star thing and within 5 minutes majority of the star bits were bitten off!!! So my question does any one have any ideas of toys that can't really be destroyed or a least for a little long than 5 minutes.....he basically loves to chew but at the moment it's chew to destroy!!!!

Thanks for your help

My dog is exactly the same! The best i've found so far is the Kong Stuff Ball. She's had it 3 weeks now and theres only a tiny tear in the rubber. Just fill it with whaterver goodies your pup likes and they "should" spend more time licking the filling than actually chewing it, although it has stood up pretty well to the chewing too.

I got the biggest sized black Kongs - you know the super duper tough ones?

Neo killed it within 24 hours!  Cairo however hasn't killed his.  He quite likes it but it's kinda heavy to be carrying about.  He really loves a plain old rubber ring that I got in Pets At Home.  I found, like you, if it had sticky out bits, he chewed them off - same as those big heavy duty rubber bones - he eventually chewed the end off that and I'm always terrified if he swallows the rubber that he gets a blockage.  The rubber ring is smooth but he much prefers to throw it up in the air, catch it on his nose, loop it over your foot and pull (marvellous when you're sitting at the computer on a chair on wheels and you're on laminate flooring!!) and all sorts of other non chewing games.

However, at 8 months old, he chewed to destroy as well - I think they're "setting" their teeth by chewing, so it might be a while before he gets over the urge to kill every toy he has.

we recently had a new bathroom fitted and the ballcock in the tank in the loft needed replaced (bear with me!) so when the plumber fixed it he gave the old ballcock to our staffy to play with because his neighbour has a staffy who is a toy destroyer and he gave one to this dog ages ago and he plays with it all the time and it's still in one piece! so a trip to your local plumbing supply centre might be worthwhile!

Pups will chew anything and everything to destruction but i would rather spend out on new toys every week than buy new furnature

Hey the ballcock is a brill idea indoors, but for outdoors you cant beat an old tyre, they are free
and in Tobys case proving to be indestructable. The boomer is also great for outdoors.

My previous staffy max (RIP) used to love a masive piece of concrete that was in the garden and he used to chew it for hours at a time just chewing it and liking it but then i got accused of filing down his teath to fight him by the vets so i had to take it off him. He loved that boulder  Rox seems to like bricks but i keep him away from them due to past expierience

Kongs all the way... only things our staffs have not destroyed!

Wayne I wouldnt suggest bricks or concrete... dont think they are good for their health - maybe invest in some Kong products to keep Rox away from that?

Thanks for all the great ideas.....I will have to invest in some kongs and perhaps the Ballcock :o) need something to keep him happy.....although I have to admit he has never chewed anything but his toys so I am very lucky. Very thankful I have well behaved boy....whom is spoilt rotten can't help myself.

Leo's toys that he hasnt destroyed: Staffy ball (I think similar to the UK boomer ball),  a holee molee extreme ball, Kongs, an everlasting beanie ball and everlasting fun ball (2 thumbs up for these! Made by triple crown), large rubber rings, pup treads tire and tire biter frisbee (Highly recommend this frisbee! We went through 20 others before we found this one!)

Oh and a rubber pimple ball with bell in it (His fav! how could i forget!)

Ok, so i admit, he is spoilt!
