Hi all, I'm sure you are all familiar with the only poisonous snake we have native to our country - the adder! Just want to let you know that they are out and about what with the warm weather we are experiencing at the moment. We took Molly to the jurassic coast line at the weekend between Lyme Regis and Charmouth. We were walking on a coastal path when Molly ran over to something slap bang in the middle of the path. She proceeded to try and sniff this thing which at that time I could'nt make out as I was not close enough. As I got closer I realised to my horror that it was an adder in strike position ready to have Molly. I ran over and swiped her away before she was bitten! I really just want to remind you all that they are about and to be mindful when walking your dogs. I have made a decision to always have a vets number relevant to where I am walking just in case she should ever get bitten. I did get a pic of the adder but can't seem to upload it to this post?! I will keep trying for those of you who have never seen an adder. Thanks for reading this

i thought the chances of ever seeing an adder were slim in the uk, that was until a fire broke out in the dry ferns a few summers ago, its a place where i take my dog 3 times a week, because theres a path and river at the bottom of where the fire was, everything headed that way inc a real lot of adders, never seen anything like it.. |

Wow that must have been a sight to behold! They don't normally pose a threat as they would rather not be seen but occasionally our paths cross. It's very easy to forget they exist but worth bearing in mind when we walk this time of year.
