Star has had diarrhea for 24 hours,,projectile..been off her food for a few days...and ive caught the kids feeding her choccy biscuits on numerous occasions..have given her boiled chicken and rice this morning and lunchtime..shes got her appetite back now...and she hasnt been poo since about 5 oclock this morning..so thats good...BUT...since she got up this morning she seems to be having difficulty walking on her back legs..like shes in some discomfort.also noticed yesterday that she started scooting accross the mat...and today shes done it...now (grab a breath) lol ive read on the internet that sometimes with bad cases of impacted anal glands that the dog can wake being like almost paralised on the rear end..due to the full glands putting pressure on the nerve that goes to the hind legs...which is what star seems like until she warms up and gets going...shes ok in herself...no fever...now eating ok...im at a loss as i dont think i want to attempt the anal glands myself and wanted to know if anyone out there has had the same experience with their dog and am i on the right track ?

Could possibly be anal glands-easily emptied by your vetinary nurse if you dont fancy doing it yourself. She could also just be really sore around the anal area-we all know ourselves how sore you can get when you have the squits-and that could be the problem-it could just be itchy and sore.
it may be worth just putting some soothing cream on that area-Sudocrem or any cream for babys nappy rash and see how she is over today.x |

well i guess she must have just been really sore around that area, because today shes got up full of beans...bouncing about like her normal self...eating well but still hasnt been poops since 5am yesterday morning..her stomach must have been sooooo empty..she ate 3 times yesterday (small portions of boiled chicken and rice) and this morning has eaten her normal raw beef..and im pacing waiting for her to poo lol..just so i can check that its normal..thanks CazRob for your reply ..why is it we all worry so much about our staffy's lol and then everything turns out fine..
