Hi,
I thought I would post this, as it has helped me this weekend to prepare for Mojo's first show next weekend. I thought it may also help out others who are in the same boat as me. All the show training at home/parks etc I found is good but is better to be augmented by attending shows, as I believe your dog and you need to feel the site, smell and noise of a dog show and experience it together. I found my normally obeindent boy was stubbon and was keener to smell the ground then heal. ( He was not competing I just worked on some show training in a dog walk area so he could get used to all the destraction). With the advice from people around me I placed him back on the choker when we got home, and got him used to it again. When we turned up to the show today it was like he was his old self. He now gates better than ever and stacks well. So I would suggest if you are planning on entering a show, attend one or two beforehand and take your dog to watch and take the time(there is plenty of that lol) to practive a bit amid all the destraction. You just cannot simulate a couple of hundred dogs in the same location to give you the opportunity to train. Better to iron out the kinks before you exhibit.......then again there is Murphys law.....lmfao. Regards, Steve ![]()
