Welcome and introductions....
Hi and a warm welcome to you.
My name is Jay and I live in Darwen in lancs with my partner Steven and our 2 staffys Jake and Xena.
I got Jake for my first anniversary present when he was 7 weeks old from a breeder in Blackpool, he will be 4 in May, and he is my baby. I will admit to mothering him as a pup, and probably still do now.
We got Xena from another family in Blackpool as a rescue when she was about 15 months old. The family we got her from had rescued her from a block of flats in Birmingham where she was kept on a balcony in all weathers and generally neglected and abused. As she wasn't really trained they couldn't cope with her wild ways and their 2 young girls together ( I believe she went through 6 fence panels in 6 weeks after the neighbours rabbits!) so we came and got her after a chance meeting on the Pier. We have had Xena for approx 18 months now and although it was a battle trying to train the independant thing, she is a much loved part of the family and is inseperable from Jake. They have even had a litter togther born Sept 07 and 3 of the pups live on our street and another went to the family in Blackpool where we got Xena from who we still keep in touch with.

Well thats a bit about me, what about you?

Thanks,
Jay Big Grin

Hi Michelle,
Rogue looks lovely, I bet she's spoiled like my 2, you just can't help yourself really! They go through more toys than I do hot dinners, I get the "indestructible" ones but they never last long!
Does Rogue like the beach? My 2 love it, can't get them off it when we go to Blackpool or Rhyll.  We took jake to Rhyll before we got Xena and stayed in a caravan there, right on the beach, it was lovely. Except when jake drinks sea water and is sick!
Take care,
Jay

Shock horror, it worked this time!!
Sadly we lost our old dog last year, we have always had rescue dogs of the heinz variety in the past, but I have always admired the staffie, so when we decided the time was right we went to a family in Rhyl and picked Toby for his gorgeous colour. We picked him up 3 weeks later when he was 6 weeks old. He is now 17 weeks old and full of mischief! but I have to agree with Michelle, he is still a lot less trouble than two waring girls
I have started puppy training with Toby but unfortunately although he will sit, stay, wait and come at home, the allure of all those other dogs proves too much for him, and the trainer is less than pleased to say the least!! Ideally we could do with meeting other dogs for a play session to help him socialise.
Look forward to getting to know everyone and their dogs, this more localised site is a great idea

Hi Lynne
Sounds like you've got a bundle of mischief on your hands there!  Puppy parties are a good idea to socialise your dog, ask your vet if there are any local ones to you going on, its a place where your pup can meet others and also get used to other people handling them and different techniques and ideas.
Have fun with Toby, they are so funny at that age!
Jay

Oh this is news to me, I've never heard of puppy parties. I have enough wormers to last us till he's 6 mths, and I have to go back then to get him chipped, just hope my memory works and I remember to ask then. Thanks for that. At the min I just hope I bump into a particular dog on our walks, a spaniel, he and Toby get on really well together running and jumping and generally enjoying themselves. We've not had a great deal of luck with other dogs, I think its because Toby is so 'full on' when he meets other dogs, and this usually worries the other dog, and they start growling and snapping at each other.
