Hi debi. Your pup is great. I have just brought mine home. Am just wandering you you feed yours? Ryan
Hi Ryan, awwww cant wait to see pics of your new pup, At the mom Luna is having for breakfast, milky wheatabix, porridge, rusk or scrambled egg, dinner is HI LIFE puppy food this has only good food and rice and veg about 1/2 of 150g packet and the same for tea and then supper is milk with rice pudding, apart from the rice pudding which has cows milk I give goats milk incase they are lactose intolerant. I do feed Bullit on Nature diet/menu and they also have sardines, pilchards and mackeral in sunflower oil or tomato sauce a couple of times aweek, I do drain off alot of the oil though so they dont get runs. Dont forget people everywhere feed there dogs on different things due to cost, dogs preference to taste and what the product does to the dog, I have read a lot of reveiws about pedigree chum, yet my last dog was fed on this for 21 years he was very healthy and his coat was perfection it was hip and spine problems that finally got him, so I can only say feed them what you consider to be best for you but do consider what is best for your dog not the companies who make them and not what someone who we dont know feed theres. You already have a staffie and what ever you are feeding her on is obviously doing her no problems she is lovely. I have decided after reading and investigating foods Im gonna feed mine what I think is best for them, sorry for going on abit but Im so confused with the food thing, Barf, natural, commercial, prices, dried, wet, god im going MAD. Hope this helps heehee Debi
Do you think by using a non commercial diet that your dogs live longer? And if you had to choose a commercial brand what would it be. Thanx for your advice.
Without a doubt, my dogs are healthier, they dont have rotten farts or bad breath.
My vet said my dogs are in superb condition, when we did our yearly vaccinations, he checked them over head to toe, which is what i always ask them to do.
They close down the vet clinic when i come with my dogs, its so funny.
Ok getting back to your questions, i would never recommend a commercial food because they are all the same, just some are more expensive than others. They tell you it got this and that in it, but the truth is there is more bad thinhg in there than good.
There is a code they use for picking up animals to use in there commercial food. They call it the 3 D's DEAD DYING DISEASED. these are they type of animals they are allowed to use. Dead from road kills to unexplained deaths. Dying, anything dying from road kills to animals that are sick. Diseased, anything sick enough to kill.
Some of the caned food is getting better but its still got the crap with it. By products and meat meal, chick meal, chicken by products, cereal by products.
These are the left over bits that go into huge crates, they dont move them on to the pet food companies until they are full, so the stuff on the bottom is off and smells so bad you cannot get the smell of your clothes of hair.
So no i dont recommend any of it.
My diet is so easy to do, you can cook the meat or leave it raw. You then only need to cook pasta or rice. Cook the veggies and the soup mix which is lentils and beans mixes(keep the liquid to cook the rolled oats in)
Also its cheaper to feed a good healthy diet than commercial.
Have you ever wondered why are dogs are getting human sicknesses when they never did years ago, dry food has only been on the market for 50 years, they found the perfect way to get rid of there waste to out much loved dogs and put wonderful claims on the packets which they are not under the same laws as human grade food, so they can say what the hell they like and it doesn't have to be true..
There is a 5kg mix you can do and bag them up and pop them in the freezer for later use.
You can use any of the meats you have listed, even mix them if you wanted to. Just make sure the meat is fresh, i smell it before i buy it.
Can you get chicken necks over there? if so do you have a mincer or food processor than can handle 5 kgs of chicken necks. They mince better cooked.
.
5 kg (11 lbs) chicken necks, rabbit or Beef mince.
1 kg pasta(2.2lbs) (dry weight) cooked= 2kg when wet
1 cup (200g(7 oz) dried soup mix )(dried beans and lentils)(soak, then cook)
2 Teaspoons Ginger Powder (NOT FOR WHELPING BITCHES)
2 Teaspoons Salt &nb sp; &nb sp; &nb sp; &nb sp;
Keep all liquids from meat or chicken, cook veggies, and pasta or rice in it and add to mix.
Add Stafford Healthy oil to add essential fatty acids
