Thanks for the nice comments on the new pics- I always seem to miss snapping the best moments though!
Hope you are getting through OK, XX Gill & co.
Hi Gill, you are welcome hun, you have beautiful babies. I have a digital camera ans sometimes I really get carried away and can literally take a couple of hundred pics, yet when I upload them to computer I delete almost all of them as they are blurred, or a good shot of the end of the tail or bum shots lol I am getting through, thank god I have the dogs to occupy me and Soph was off school today (teacher training) so it all helps. Hope all is well with you all, big hugs xx
Saw you were sad, sending you some {{{hugs}}}. Lost both my cats last year, if its any consolation they hide illness very well and deteriorate very quickly when its too late, there was nothing you could have done. I'm sure your totally huggable dogs are doing their best to make you feel better. xx Gill
Thanks Gill your words are very comforting - I keep asking myself if there were any symptoms that I had missed, but I can't say that there was anything till the weekend. Its uncanny with the dogs though, its as though they know exactly what is going on, they are a blessing in disguise. Hope all is well with you, Gonzo and Scout, speak soon, hugs to all xx
they must be sisters we got ours from stourport on seven in worstershire from breeder's who live in a mobile home and they have got a car mechanic garage that the husband works at, the birthdays of the dogs are the same date as my my middle child's b'day it felt like fate to have lj because its my initials and her mom's name was twink and my husband's mom's nickname is twink also lol. you said the breeder's have got more pups advertised where are they advertised i would love to have a look for myself, have you got tammy's email details i did have them myself but i miss placed them because they said they would like me to send pics of lj while she is growing, am the breeder's on this site and if they are under what name? speak to u soon x
Hi and welcome and TY for the friends request- I remember commenting on your pics of JIna cos she is a beautiful Stafford- lots of champs in her pedigree- do you show her?
Sure will see you round the site
Gill & co.
Hi Gill, Thanks for accepting my friends request and for your lovely comments on Jina, I don't show her but have thought about it from time to time, A few people now have told me I should think about it but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. Bye, Simon
Yeah IKWYM about that post but at least you didn't feel the need to give the guy basically hate mail. I replied sympathetically because I don't think anyone knows how you will feel in the immediate aftermath of seeing you dog "turn", very suddenly and go for the kill. I didn't want to get rid of my dog but without a long story I didn't deal with it very well, maybe if I'd had this club then it would have helped. The poster was obviously immature and would rather run away from a problem than learn and grow but with support could maybe have come round, but its likely hes left Staffyclub and the dog is dumped somewhere now.
I have tried lots of things with Gonzo, made loads of mistakes along the way, but at least I know the methods I am trying now are kind. I am taking it slowly and carefully, frankfurters definitely help!
If the truth be known I still dont think I could be very polite! I can understand a kneejerk immediate reaction, but in several days he's not been back on to say he/she has calmed down and they are going to take measures to try and overcome the problems - and he's had plenty of time to do that. I do know from experience that we dont always react to an emergency in the way we think we will, so its wrong of those who havent been in that particular predicament to put someone down without giving them chance to calm down and think rationally. But like I say maybe he was just just looking for an excuse seeing as he's not been on since. Sadly people who think nothing of discarding an animal like we would a piece of rubbish do exist. I'm just so pleased that you persevered even though you didnt deal with it very good at the time. I couldnt offer any advice as I must have been incredibly lucky with my lifetime of owning dogs as Ive never had a DA dog! But I can offer support and encouragement, so if ever you are in need of that then I'm your gal lol Right best go and see what we are going to have for tea, big hugs to you all, speak soon hun xx
Nice to hear from youand I love hearing happy stories cos it is all too easy to feel that is not normal for a Staffie! Happy Birthday for tomorrow for Miss V.. We are doiong fine thanks for asking- Scout is just getting over Kennel Cough and is hyper about being cooped up, so is totally misbehaving on walks and so its back tobasics on training. Gonzo is being a good boy so I am trying some new things with him to see if we can socialise him better- his DA is pretty bad but we had a walk today where he only growled at one dog and ignored the rest -lots of frankfurters helped! xx Gill, Gonzo & Scout.
Hi Gill, yes there is too many sad stories so I thought sod it I'm posting this one. I have been too annoyed to reply to that forum post where they want to get rid of their one yr old because it attacked a friends dog! whats that all about, poor dog. How on earth are they going to cope with a baby and the tantrums and fights as it grows up!!! Aww poor Scout, hope he makes a speedy recovery, I didnt realise he had kennel cough. Im sure you will soon get him back to where he was in training, you just have to keep at it dont you and one day it just clicks. I didnt realise that Gonzo was DA either, so you know what its like, but you wouldnt take the attitude of that fool would you!! They say the watch me command is a good one to get to help with DA and have plenty of tasty treats or a fav noisey toy. Speak soon hun, big hugs to you all xx
Super well done- what a great walk! Wish mine were the same
Hey Gill thanks for the comment, its been a hard slog, but I'm not becoming complacent, after all its only the first time! Its her 1st birthday tomorrow, so I hope she does it again then - that would make it perfect. How are you hun and your two beauties - keeping you on your toes are they? Speak soon hun xx
Thanks Lynne, the weekend seems to have brought the sunshine out and the kids are back to school tomorrow so I'm OK provided scout isn't hurt. She has certainly used up a couple of her 9 lives if dogs are allowed such a thing!
My son had the cheek to ask the next day if I could take him to Game to spend his savings- when I asked was he not keeping it to go towards a new laptop he said" I wasn't thinking of it". So another round of bollocking ensued. I am getting to borrow OH's work laptop under strict supervision so I can check my mail, etc.
The Wedding itself was a very happy day. They are off on honeymoon to Loch Ness then hopefully we'll see OH's brother before he goes abck to Oz, and it won't be too long before his wife gets her Visa and can join him.
I was a good girl and paid all my bills this month but I have no spending money left so could do without vets bills, car bills and kids to fund through holiday activities. Don't worry I am not down , its nnothing we haven't wethered before but it helps to offload! Thanks again!
Aww Gill, you know if you had a couple of months without any mishaps you would wonder what was up lol I still have Sophie home till Tuesday, teacher training! I hope she has had an accident free few days now! Kids hey! In my day I'd have laid low for a good week or more, and not dared ask for anything for a long time - how times have changed! Sophies the same, they just dont realise that things cost money and that we dont have a botomless pocket! So pleased the wedding went off alright. Well done for getting all the bills paid - not an easy feat in todays climate. I really admire you for keeping so upbeat, and dont worry yourself you can offload on me anytime. Big hugs to you all, speak soon xxxx
