Latest update
Posted On 25/02/2009 00:51:37
It is with a heavy heart that I write to let everyone who wished me and the boys well after our separation last year know that we have had to find a new home for Guinness. Unfortunately since we got him back from his time in the kennels, he never really adjusted to being back at home with all of us (3 humans, 3 cats and Frick).

He never really settled and started to get nasty towards the other animals, and it didn't seem to matter what we did, we couldn't seem to get the old Guinness back. When he was in a 1 - 2 - 1 situation, he was a lovely dog, but with any of the other animals around he became unpredictable, and it wasn't fair on him or my 12 year old daughter who was beginning to trust him less and less, that things carried on.

Although it was a sad moment when we said goodbye, at least he now has the chance to become the lovely dog he really is.

Frick still looks for him now and then around the house, but he seems ok with things.

Together again...

Hi,

Some of you will remember that back at the end of July I had to put my boys, Frick & Guinness, into kennels because my git of a landlord said they could no longer live at the house we were renting.

To update everyone, we have now found somewhere else to live for the whole family. We have been back together for a week now and it's been great.

A happy ending to a really unhappy few months..

Saying goodbye to Frick pt2
Posted On 31/07/2008 09:58:53
Well, we put Frick and Guinness into their temporary home last night, I managed to leave work early so I could meet them there. The guy at the kennels said we could go see them and take them out for walks as often as we liked which was comforting to know.
They're in a big kennel together so I know they'll be able to play together, and fight together, and Guinness has already shown he has a mouth on him; he didn't stop barking at the other dogs as soon as he heard them until he got into his own place!!
I know some people think that I should have dug my heels in and let them stay, but I'm no good to them all stressed out. We're already looking at other places, and may even be able to buy somewhere; then let someone try and tell me I can't have my dogs!! Even our neighbours can't believe it, they say our dogs are no trouble, but I just want out now so that's what we're doing.

Saying goodbye to Frick

Today is not a good day; I am having to say goodbye to my beloved Frick.

It's not through some accident or ailment that he is leaving me, but my git of a landlord, after first saying he could stay, is now saying that Frick & Guiness (my husband's collie) must go. By 6.00 pm tomorrow night (31/07/08)!!

We are placing them in kennels temporarily so that we can find ourselves alternative accommodation and have them back with us. It's breaking my heart as this is all being done while I am at work and I may not get a chance to say goodbye to him properly. I know that I will see him again soon, but it's still tearing me apart that I have to do it in the first place.

Pics at last

Well, I finally managed to get a couple of pics on here. Like so many of you know, it is so difficult to choose which pics to include and which to leave out because there are just so many!! Well I've started now, so expect to see lots more of him as time goes by. I'll try and dig out ones from when we first got him a year ago at 8 weeks old.

A little about Frick

Frick is my Staffie. He was born on 6th May 2007 in Somerset, UK. I first saw him at 5 weeks old, and I fell in love with the way he came over and put his head on my leg as I sat on the floor. How could I resist? I picked him up as he turned 8 weeks, and he was good as gold on the journey home.

He seemed to sleep most of the time, which my two cats didn't seem to mind as it meant they could get on with getting up to cat things. Also, at this time, they were bigger than him!

It wasn't long before he was growing and as he got bigger than the cats, they started staying away from him. He was getting quicker too. I couldn't wait for him to have all his jabs so i could take him out for walks. As I live just outside Exmoor National Park, there is plenty of scope for some invigorating exercise.

I took Frick to some 1-2-1 obedience classes, and I think some of it has rubbed off, but he still tries it on every now and then, but soon realises that I'm the Boss! (briefly).

We now have a collie pup, Guinness, born Dec 07, and my husband can't believe what Frick lets him get away with; Guinness will take his toys, his treats, his bed, but Frick just chases him for a short bit, then stands there and barks at him.
It is nice to them running around the garden together though.
