Hi Thanks for requesting me as a friend, Dray is a lovely looking dog. Good luck with the obedience training - I can't even do the basic Kennel Club good citizen test as Bettie won't give her toys back on command!!! Any advice greatly accepted!!
Natalie
Find Bettie's most fav treat in the whole world... Put it in your pocket and when you have finished playing with her offer her the treat as an exchange for the toy. When you offer her the treat use a command like'give' so that she associates the word with giving up the toy and recieving a treat. give the 'give' command as soon as she exchanges the treat for the toy, not before or after as she will become confused as to what it means. Once she is doing that easily start cutting out the treats slowly, instead of giving her one every time give it to her two times out of three. When you don't give her a treat give her lots of pats and praise instead. Slowly reduce the treats to none or the occasional one. It will take a while but it will eventually work. The treat HAS to me MORE interesting than the toy for it to work tho. Dray loves liver treats and small bits of kabana and cheese, just be careful using people food tho as you may find yourself munching as well
hope this helps a little. Take care and keep n touch.
Hi Natalie, good luck with the classes. Bettie blue will learn quickly staffords are SMART. She is beautiful.

Hi, have just come back from being out with Bettie and she was playing with a staffie cross, a lab, a german shephard and a jack russell. It was the first time she came back to me when I called her so that is a bit of an improvement!
