Anyone heard of this?
Posted On: 01/08/2008 13:32:20
I read in 'The Dog' magazine that in some circles its frowned upon to call our dogs 'Staffies' and they should be referred to as SBT or Staffords.
Anyone else heard of this?
I wonder if its classed as a slang name?

I always call mind 'Staffies' never heard of this before!

Hi,

I found this a really intresting .... i suppose its personal taste on what you call them.Just no actual reason as to why its frowned upon, maybe like mentioned it is a 'down grade'.
Thanks for the comments, Ali x

Hi Ali, me again, yes Steve stone who wrote the new Stafford book, hate the word staff or staffies. he use's Stafford's or  STB.

I too use the words Stafford more than staffy, because, its hard to explain, but over here we have great people who call them staffy's and thick people who should never own a Stafford, they never call them Stafford's or Staffordshire bull terriers. its normal males around 18 - 25 years old, who just want a staffy to show there friend how tough they are.

You can normally tell when they ring up and chat that they are this sort of staffy owner to be, but not my babies.

does that help?
