Amber diet news first month
Posted On 22/09/2008 10:46:08
Just a quick update on how Amber is doing-although she put a little bit on two weeks ago she has so far maintained her weight at 18.9 kilos-when she started she was 20.4 kilos .I am carrying on with the cutting down on treats and am hoping in the next two weks or so to get her to 18 kilos. I think that is a reasonable weight for her because of her height and build. I will put a piccie of her up later-you probably wont see much of a difference because she has only lost 1.5 kilos in total but what the hell-I like showing her off anyway.

Ambers diet news.
Posted On 22/08/2008 10:59:09
Just thought I would let you know how Amber is doing on her diet. We went to see the vetinary nurse on Wednesday for a weigh in and advice. Her start weight was recorded in July as 20.4 kg not 23.4 kg like I thought so she wasnt quite as porky as I thought. She weighed 18.05 kg on Wednesday so I am really chuffed and as an added bonus Max has lost a kilo and my little Jas has lost just under 1/2 kilo so thay have all done really well.
I now weigh all the food out and they have to go back in another fortnight. Amber and Max need to lose a kilo each and Jas is ok as she is.
I will take another piccie in two weeks and post it to see if you can see a difference but I am really pleased. xxxxx

Ambers diet -first week.

We have been dieting now with Amber for just over a week and she has done really well-she doesnt look any different yet but we have really stuck to two small meals a day and I think she has had 2 tiny treats .
The only hiccup has been when she grabbed a bag full of dog poo of someone I know on the local field-and ate the poo plus plastic bag-I had to wait until the following day to make sure it had gone through-not a flattering pose-a bag hanging out of your ass with your owner pulling it out-it made my eyes water never mind how Amber felt.
We shall keep going and let you know how things are going soon. xxxxx

Amber needs to lose weight
Posted On 09/08/2008 14:37:35
I have decided to put Amber on a weight loss program because she is starting to look like a little Christmas pudding. She was 23.4kg last weigh in and the vet wasnt too happy with that weight.
I am hoping to get her down to around 20kg over several weeks-she is fairly tall so am hoping she will look good at that weight. She is such a sweetheart I dont want her to keep being this weight and then suffering with her joints when she is older. It is going to be tough-she has those big brown sad eyes but we will all have to be hard to help her. I will keep you up to date with how she is doing. xx

amber today.

I would really like to thank everyone for their lovely messages for me and Amber. She is more like her old self today-still a little stiff when getting up -but her wounds seem clean and ok and she is more playful so hopefully we can put this behind us and move on.
You have all been so kind and thoughtful and I really appreciate all the support we have received both on here and the other staffy forum.xxxxxxx

Amber was attacked this afternoon
Posted On 02/08/2008 04:01:29
I had an awful afternoon with Amber. We went on a local field which we go on frequently-Jade came with me. I was about to go through onto another field and Amber was with me-Jade was behind with Max and Jas. I came onto the field and this guy was there with two large dogs off lead-one was slightly smaller than a Great Dane -the other was similar to a DDB but I think was crossed with something. I was about to put Amber on her lead when this DDB cross came running towards Amber with her owner screaming at her to come back. Amber fled back into the field Jade was in and I stepped in front of this dog and started talking to it-hoping to distract it enough for the owner to come get it.
He then lost control of the bigger dog which shot past me-followed by his other dog into the field where Jade was.Amber was hiding behind Jade which caused her to have the bigger dog stand on her foot and the cross knocked her over trying to get to Amber. He shouted his dogs and the larger one came back-he said-its ok now-this is the one im worried about-so Im thinking-why if its that aggressive is it off the lead.
I called my dogs to me and Amber was trying to get this bitch to back off when all of a sudden it flew at her-pinning her on the floor and biting at her. The guy was screaming at his dog-I was trying to get it off Amber with my boot shoving it off and shouting at it-Max tried his best to attack this cross breed but she then turned on him-Amber was crying with fear.
I got her to come to me a couple of times but everytime this dog went for her again-she ran and it had her pinned down on her back again. I will never forget her cries of fear for as long as I live.
I finally managed to get her to me ,grabbed her collar and the bloke hauled his other dog over and grabbed its collar. Amber was shaking with fear by then-she had soiled herself she was so terrified and my daughter just wanted to go home. I wanted to get away from the situation. His cross dog was still pulling to get to Amber-he had no control over his dogs and was struggling to hold them both. He did ask me if I was ok-I said I was but my dog is absolutley petrified. I walke dher around the corner-had to clean her up-she had her tail right between her legs and could barely walk.
All the way around the field-she never left my side-the only reason she would go back on the field where the attack took place was because she wanted to be with me.She couldnt even play with Max she was so traumatised.
We came back around and Jade could see the bloke with the dogs on the lead waiting I think to see if Amber was ok. Jade was too frightened to walk past them and I thought no way am I risking those dogs pulling away from the owner-if both had attacked Amber she wouldnt have stood a chance.
I checked her over before we left the field-this dog had bitten her on the leg and the belly-in fact when I felt her belly it was wet through-with blood I first thought but then realised it was slobber off the dog trying to bite her belly.
She has been very quiet and subdued-took her for a walk in the evening-a nervous wreck on the field-looking round for dogs and  on edge when a strange dog barked at her-even though he was friendly. The only time she perked up was when she saw her friend Wooster and his owner -both of whom she adores.
Then we discovered that she was unable to climb the stairs and when I hitched her on the settee she cried with pain-so am just seeing how she is over night-im not sure if it is muscular or tendon because it is the same leg the dog has bitten her on.
I am up now at nearly 4 am because the whole experience has left me feeling sick-shes my baby -not a nasty bone in her body and this horrible aggressive dog has really damaged her. This guy knew his dogs were aggressive because Ive seen him twice before and both times he put his dogs on leads and went the other way.
I have just checked on her and managed to find some painkillers to give her and she seems to be sleeping but her confidence has taken a huge knock and I think it will take some time to get my sunny natured little girl back.
Just hoping her leg is better in the morning. xxxx

Jasmine is home
Posted On 26/02/2008 08:41:22
Brought Jasmine home last night-she was so happy to see her family-the vets offered to keep her because she is such a sweetheart . He said she had been incredibly lucky-if I hadnt got her to the vets so quickly it could have been very serious because the chew was situated right above the heart and it would have been complicated to remove. She has had a good sleep-had a meal and is going for a long run this morning.Im very happy to have her back. Just like to once again thank my lovely ladies who have given me so many messages of support every single day-Lynne, Tracey, Di, Julie, Diane , Claire,Sheena,Debi and Carol.  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Jas is coming home
Posted On 25/02/2008 09:48:14
Absolutely chuffed to bits-my little girl is now well enough to come home at 4pm today. I cant wait to see her-it has been the 3 longest days of my life so far.I will let you know how she is later . x

update on jasmine
Posted On 24/02/2008 12:48:24

Jasmine is still not able to come home today-she is still experiencing some pain which she is on strong painkillers for-the vet thinks she has bad cramps because her body is trying to digest and pass this rawhide so feel it is better to keep her another day-take some more x-rays and just check it is either completely gone or on the way out. They are taking her for regular walks and say she is brighter butis very homesick and is looking for her mum . She is not really eating but this is again due to missing her family-so I will have to wait until tomorrow-it has been a long hellish weekend.
