So you should be proud...what a gentleman. We all had a good time too. xx
Aw thanks Lynne this is great I was worried about them getting all their reqirements and mixing raw and kibble but no worries now- we all know nothing but the best for Toby and Venus, lol.
Meanwhile, my kids get any old junk food.
I have been trying to give them more exercise to keep them fit and cut back on the treats as she is getting on well with her training and needs less rewards, so hopefully she will not get too fat following the op. Its a lot harder with Gonz as he is dog aggressive he rarely gets off leash and needs kongs to help burn off frustration but he is only 2kg overweight. Hopefully the new diet will help too.
Thanks again and huggles to all especially the furbabies.xxGill & co xx
You are welcome Gill, anytime, its no secret that I spoil my two, if we have spag bol I buy them some mince, they have their own chicken breast and pork chop when we have those too lol If you are giving veg it might be worth your looking on the forum and seeing which veg are to be avoided at all costs - for example onion is a no no. I give cabbage, green beans, brussels, brocolli, peas, carrots and suede (I use about 3 or 4 of these at any one time so they get a bit of variety. If you go for the prize choice that comes in quite a few flavours, dont give up if they dont like the first one you try mine only like the chicken and liver (not the chicken or turkey!) beef, tripe lamb and rabbit. Its a shame you cant let Gonz off - do you have a bit of a garden, maybe you could get him interested in a flirt pole where you play with him (very similar to those things you dandle for cats) that would give him exercise and help define his muscles if he is doing a bit of jumping. I have to say if Im in a cooking mood we eat casseroles, spag bol etc the easier to prep the better I dont like the kitchen, but the rest of the time its junk food all the way lol My dogs are much better fed lol When we went to Devon the other week I took loads of veg and tins of stewed steak and corned beef for them because I didnt know if caravans would have a fridge freezer or an ice box in the fridge lol Hugs to you all, speak soon hun xx
Hi Lynne popped into say Hi and ask you something but seems youv'e been poorly - wishing you well soon. We have all had regular flu too a couple of weeks ago and Scout was in season too. She's all growed up now! I will get her spayed soon. Its a shame I can't get any photos up but since my son broke my laptop I can't get the desk computer to read off my digital camera.
Sorry to have to bug you but I know you don't like posting on the forum and I seem to remember you do a sort of half raw diet with yours. I have switched my two to a cheaper dog food to save money but by God do I know all about it. I am literally sitting here gagging on the , er, natural gases. So I thought about giving them quality kibble in the morning and raw food in the evening- my mum has agreed to stock up at her butchers for me. But I held off cos I am worried about their diet not being balanced. Am I right in thinking you did this with yours? Cos they look very healthy and shiny. If you can advise me I'd be very grateful
Hope you are better already xx to you and your lovely family xx, Gill, Scout and Gonzo.
Hi Gill, aww bless Scout is all grown up, bless her. When you get her spayed you must reduce her food by about a third! I know it sounds drastic, but it was at that time that mine stopped eating the kibble I put down at breakfast, so I stopped putting it down, and then at tea time they had a packet of prize choice Raw food between them (but Ive just picked up some pet mince from my local farm shop - they mix some protein in it up, and they absolutely loved it - to use instead of the prize choice), mixed with some lightly cooked green veg, a teaspoon of salmon oil, and a handful of JWB (so they get all their daily requirements) That is all they get now plus a few treats at bedtime or training, and a nice bone once or twice a week for their teeth. They lost a bit of unwanted weight as I didnt cut Tobys food after he was done and he put weight on to the extent that he couldnt jump in the car or on the bed without a hand up - and the best of all there is very little in the way of natural gas lol I thought after all those greens we would need gas masks - how wrong I was - thankfully lol They are in better health now than they have ever been, they have much more stamina for chasing their ball and do some spectacular jumps to catch them - we very often have people stop and watch when we are in the park - which in turn has helped define their muscles - the vet we saw tonight who has staffs herself said they are in excellent shape. Im not too bad hun, these off days come with my age and my mobility problems, I learn to live with them lol Hope this helps you, if you need to ask me anything else dont hesitate to ask, big hugs to all babies, speak soon hun xxxx
Hiya Gill, I tried to reply to your waggy walks post and would not let me GGGRRR but just to say that us 3 are doing it so will prob see you there. Hope your ok, see you Monday? Will text/call over the weekend but all ok this end for Monday. Hope you all have a great day and weekend, take care.
Nice to hear from you Lynne-take it you just back from your hols- looks like it was fab. Great pics as usual . Bet the dogs were knackered ! Toby is just The Man isn't he .
The background is a pic of Scout with her 2 litter sisters that my OH found on the internet and managed to transfer onto here- don't ask me how I'm crap with technology. The middle one is LJ whose owners are also in Staffyclub. I don't know what happened to the one on the right but she is well gorgeous!
Get Sophie starting thinking of her Gladiator name then......
xxGill&coxx
Yes just back from Devon - how did ya guess lol I have never seen the dogs so tired, as well as coming everywhere with us we had a big exercise fiels which we took them on at least twice every day lol poor devils had no energy left to play when we got back to the van, they just crashed and slept lol I cant believe it, Ive just paid the window cleaner and now its throwing it down!! Oh that pic is so gorgeous, I can see why you chose Scout, I wouldnt have been able to resist either. How lucky to find that pic on the internet. Soph is just finishing her homework - its back to school tomorrow - she starts senior school tomorrow - but may not be there for long. She spent 3 weeks with her mum, step dad, 2 sisters and 1 brother this holiday and has come back wanting to go live with them. Her step dad comes out of the army in Jan and they hope to move nearer to us (maybe the cheshire area) so she wants to go with them then. Right I must go get the washing out of the dryer before it all creases up. Speak soon hun hugs to all xx
